Washer Won’t Drain? 3 Checks Before You Call
Quick, safe checks you can try before booking a repair in Braintree & nearby.
1) Check the filter (front bottom panel)
Place a tray/towel under the filter cover. Twist the filter cap slowly to release water. Remove lint, coins, hairpins and clean the housing. Refit firmly.
2) Inspect the drain hose
Ensure the hose isn’t kinked or crushed behind the machine and that the standpipe/sink spigot isn’t blocked. If you recently installed a new kitchen trap, remove the blanking plug on the spigot.
3) Try a manual drain
Many machines have a small emergency hose next to the filter—drain into a tray, then try a spin/drain cycle.
If the washer still won’t drain, the issue might be a failed drain pump, blocked internal hose, or control fault. See our Washing Machine Repairs.
